STUDENT GOVERNMENT OFFERS TRAINING FOR FUTURE CITIZENS This year the student's governing body, the Student Council, is divided into two groups. The Senior high and Junior high each have their own meet- ing and officers. Officers for the Senior high are Dave Olson, President; Susan Dahl, Secretary-Treasurer; and Gerald Sandstrom, Vice President. The Junior high officers include Andrea Holmquist, President; Warren John- son, Treasurer; and Scott Anfinson, Vice President. The two groups function under the same constitution and work together to sponsor projects. Projects carried on by the council include the Unified Drive, Courtesy Week, and most important, it promotes cooperation throughout the school. FIRST ROW: M. Landmark, D. Lageson, A. Lee, J. M. OUR LAST This is our last year in Benson High and everything takes on a special im- portance. Homecoming, Sadie Hawkins Day, the Sweetheart Ball, pass too quickly and are gone. Each of the past years has been highlighted with certain events. As Freshmen we began taking an active part in school activities by electing Banner Bearers, Merlyn O'Malley and Mitchell Boone. As Sophomores we gained the privilege of attending school dances. However, our greatest thrills were yet to come. Juniors, and we had reached the age of responsibility. We were older upper- classmen but we didn't feel any older. Everyone was in an up-roar as class rings arrived. Then came the all important event--the Junior-Senior Banquet. These were years that will go down in history. Ole Miss brought up the vio- lent segregation problem, andJohnGlen circled the globe. The Cuban Crisis arose and war loomed overhead. There were the usual amount of fads dominating the classrooms; the bubble hairdo, hair bows, and tinted hair all atop, hooded sweatshirts and short kiltie skirts. But now the graduation which looked so exciting a year ago is pushed from our thoughts while we enjoy these last months of school.
