SENIORS SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS 1 in Standing left to right: Mary Ann O'Connor, treasurer; Elaine Ostby, secretary; and Wanda Hestad, vice president. Seated: Nicholas Olsen, president. CLASS MEMORIES Go ahead admit it, you enjoyed those 12 years of school. They were sometimes discouraging, but they were wonderful! In our freshman year the girls learned such home-making tasks as baking bread and dress-making, while the boys, under Mr. Skala's supervision, enjoyed wood-working projects and drawings. Nancy Gesme was chosen president. Marlys Sathcr vice-president, and Alice McClellen secretary-treasurer. Our sophomore year was highlighted by such things as disecting crayfish and dogfish sharks, and plagu- ing our minds with such names as: Nebuchadnezzer, Themistocles, and Sophocles in studying about the world. We were climbing socially also, as we served at the banquet and we also helped elect the king and queen. Our class officers were: Alfred Teien, president; Wanda Hestad, vice-president; Shirley Lar- son, secretary; Robert Holtan, treasurer. The junior year proved to be a lot of work but you'll all agree it was worth it. First of all we had to take over the sale of the concessions at all the home games, and we also took over the editorship of the Gopher’s Whistle. In the Spring we proved our ability as actors in the comedy, Our Hearts Were Young and Gay. Then there came our class rings and for a week or more we were caught not paying attention in class but gazing lovingly at our newly acquired rings. To top off our junior year we played host, with Alfred Teien, our president, acting as Master of Ceremonies, at the annual Junior-Senior Banquet which carried out the theme. Rickshaw Paradise. Our other officers were: Erling Dokken, vice-president; Gloria Long, secretary; and Norma Williams, treasurer. Smile pretty, now. was what we attempted to do for our senior pictures. Then came our announce- ments and cards. The first month of school was highlighted with the homecoming festivities. Elected as king and queen were Richard Motzko and Joanne Swingseth. The attendants were: Wanda Hestad. Norma Williams, Donna Jo Christenson, Jane Croal, Alfred Teien, Roger Bronniche, Charles Anderson, Nicholas Olsen. We again proved our ability as actors in the comedy Our Miss Brooks. The senior class edited our high school annual, the Chippewa. During the fall we turned politicans by giving vigorous campaign speeches and preparing a mock election for the school. Those elected as class officers were: Nicholas Olsen, president; Wanda Hestad, vice-president; Elaine Ostby, secretary; Mary Ann O’Connor, treasurer. 12
