I FRONT ROW Left to Right Roger Schmidt, Lorraine Musel, Julianna Steinert, Susan Petersen Michael Christiansen BACK ROW Nrs Penke, Susan Fuhrman, Janes Eller bruch, Phillip Warrick, Annette Almquist Steven Schneider NOT SHOWN Vicki Schmidt The year started with an enrollment of nine children in the kindergarten M girls and 5 boys After h weeks, Julie Steinert, from District 63 came, and in February Vicki Schmidt, fron1 Fremontgenrolled The class took part in the opereta in October They were cowboys and cowgirls in a play the first and second grades put on In November the children enjoyed visiting with many parents at the P T A Open House December brought the fun of preparing for the Christmas Program March this room made centerpieces and other Easter decorations for the Red Cross After learning the song, 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears, second grade room They also put it on for all their guests at the annual Kindergarten Round up In the Nebraska Federated Women's Club Art Contest, Lorraine Musel won a first place The first and second grade room began the 1959 60 school term with an enrollment of thirty pupils After five weeks of school passed, Dennis Beerman from Waterloo joined the first grade, making an enroll ment of seventeen seven boys and ten girls Then at the end of the first semester Jon Langer from Mexico joined the second grade, making an enrollment of fifteen seven girls and eight boys Because of the near numbers of enrollment in the two classes, many contests could be carried on successfully throughout the year A worthwhile project in this room has been donating dollar for library books instead of treating the room with candy Thr room now has a number of new, colorful, and inter esting library books All joined the Junior Red Cross and did their part in making this an active project in the school Three cnganizations to which they gave generously were the March of Dimes, Heart Fund, and the clothing drive nThe Carnival Princess,n an entertaining opereta, was given in October The scenery, which was the front of a castle and the painted flowers, were made by this room In the Christmas program, which included all the grade school children, this room played the American children This room has been well represented in art contests which were held in Lincoln and Omaha where Karen Wehrbein and Danny Wiedrick won firsts and Danny also won a third place There were twenty nine pupils enrolled in the third and fourth . . .
