“K5 On February 15 the class sponsored a Valent1ne's dance for the high school and the seventh and eighth grades The sophomores also extended an invitation to the Irvington High School students In the extra curricular activities all of the girls took part in volleyball with Lois serving as captain and Violet was an officer The girls all took part in the pep club, Lois, Janet, and Carol were chosen for first team cheerleaders uDick,n Terry C John, Terry L , Alv n, and Larry participated in track this term All the boys except Kenneth and William took part in basketball Clarence did not play but was student manager The boys that played basketball also played baseball Most of the class took part in music, with the six girls making up the girls' sextette Janet Perchal with her selections of nThe Lilac Tree and nIf I Could Tell You received a good rating nPass1ng B ' and nBy The Bend of the River were sung by Violet Rix, and she also ce ved a good ra ing e girls sextette sang No Other Love and Prayer Prefectn, and the girls' glee sang nBeautiful Savior and NOh what a Beautiful Morning, all four songs received a good rating Those in music attended the lst ECNC Music Clinic at Craig The sextette sang nSilver Bellsn and nwinter Wonderland' at the Grade School Christmas Program Also at the dedication they sang nMay the Good Lord Bless and Keep You Lois sang nPrayer Perfectn when the Juniors presented their play Janet, Clarence, Lois, Carol, William, and Margaret took part in declamatory work The three girls participated in the ECNC Declam Con test and Carol, Lois, and Clarence were in the one act play, nElmer Cleans Up The class members took English, science, and algebra, John, Terry C Dickn, Terry L , Larry, and Clarence took shop All the girls too typing, and during the second semester the girls were privileged to have home economics 'Dick and Lois were chosen King and Queen of the PTA carniva for that year ln the spring Terry C was one of 13 young people in the annual Omaha Farm City Youth Exchange Program Durlng the summer Terry C and Lois attended the Jr Red Cross Camp On September l school opened with 13 starting They were Terr Christensen, Kenneth Petersen, Terry Loptin, Alvin Westphal, Dick Musel, John Dyer, Larry Holmes, William Cloudt, Howard Hansen, Kenneth Lambrecht, Clarence Laaker, Daryl Cox, Elvera Paasch, LOIS Mohr, Carol Johnsen, and Janet Perchal Due to the closing of Irvington High School the class gained Daryl Cox, Kenneth Petersen, and Howard Hansen Violet Rix and Margaret Llesche dropped during the first semester Class officers were Terry C President, Terry L Vice President, Howard Secretary, and Alvin Treasurer The class sponsor was Miss Mohr The required subjects were English and American history Some of the other subjects taken were physics, algebra, shop, typing, home eco nomics, and bookkeeplng All of the girls were out for music and the pep club Carol, Lois, and Janet were cheer leaders Members of the boys' chorus were Alvin, Dick , Clarence, Kenneth P , John, Daryl, Terry L , and Terr The County Government Day was attended with the following students in these offlces Terry L Attorney, Terry C Treasurer, Alvln County Superintendent, John Sheriff, Janet County Clerk, Violet Com missioner, Kenneth P Register of Deeds, William Assessor, Clarence Public Defender, Howard Judge, and Daryl County Surveyer All the boys except William, Daryl, Clarence, Kenneth L , and Alvin competed in baseball, basketball, and track 'Dick se a pole vaultlng school and conference record of 10' 6' uD1ckn was also a member of the first team on the basketball squad Carol, Lois, and Janet were members of the volleyball team I O - I . .
