HAROLD LARRY .mass mums ni oou ful GARY VERNIE On September 5 1955, seven boys reported to the freshman class. They were Gary Flynn, Donald Witt, James Hawkins, and Edward Westphal from District 59, Larry Shattuck from District 30 Vernie wait from District hh, and Harold wiese from Dis trict 26 Subjects offered the freshmen were English, world history, mathematics, and general science James also took mechanical drawing during the second semester. The officers of the class were James President, Larry Vice President, Ed ward Treasurer, and Donald Secretary Mr Doran was chosen as their class apon SOI' All the boys in the class went out for baseball, James, Gary, and Vernie went out for basketball, and James, Larry, and Gary went out for track James was chosen as one of the outstanding freshmen players of the E N C in basketball Gary, Harold, Larry, Donald, and Edward participated in music None of the freshmen participated in declam On the morning of September 30 the freshman class came to school dressedas the sophomores requested They were dressed as follows Gary baby, Vernie bath ing beauty, Don dog, Edward Indian, Harold woman, Larry redhead, and James bel lerina They all made speeches and showed their beauty to the town people. In the evening the freshmen and the rest of the high school were invited to a dance given by the sophomores In the waterloo Jr High Invitational Basketball Tournament held on February 29 to March 2, Donald, James, Gary, Vernie, and Edward helped make up the Bennington squad The team was awarded the first place Q, '. kfem, V I mejg' J wig Q .ZR .
