On October 18 the seniors had thelr pi tures taken at Bennington by Genelli Studios of Sioux City, Iowa Donna, Rose Mary, and Melvin took 'declam Melvin participated in Newscast ing, Rose Mary in Interpretative Oratory, giving 11 hway Hom1cide,n and Donna in Extemporaneous Speaking All three represented the school in the EFNC Contest held at Bennington on March 2 on Saturday, rebruary 25, Melvin, as senlor class president, was one of the two Bennington students honored to apnear on Radio btation NOw's nTops with Teens pro gram The University of Nebraska Freshman Scholarship Examlnations were taken by Rose Mary and Donna on March 19 On March 29 the girls competed in the Un1versity of Omaha Qegents' examinations John's Ev Lutheran Church of Bennington Class Day Exercises were held in the gym nasium on May 16 Commencement was on the evening of May 17 with W C Neierhenry Class Will This is the last will and testament of the Senior Class of Bennington High School, Village of Bennington, County of Douglas, State of Nebraska, made and pub lished on the loth day of May, nineteen hundred and fifty six as speaker We, the senior class, will and bequeath to the Junior class our seats in the assembly and also our ability alwafs to a ree on all necessary preparations We, the senior class, wlll and bequeath our abllity to stay out of trouble with the teachers to the sophomores who can greatly use it We, the senior class, will and bequeath to the freshman class our good sense of humor and our sportsmanship I, Tom Flynn, will and bequeath my ability to play for four years on the first team of basketball to augene Hawkins who has a good start To my brother Gary I will my ability to get along with the teachers I, Gerald Gottsch, will and bequeath my ability to drive carefully to Eugene Eicke who can use it To James Hawkins I leave my ability to go steady I, Rose Mary Hansen, will and bequeath my volleyball ability to Lillian Paasch, my not going out with boys until my senior year I leave to Carol Wait I, Donna Komlnek, will and bequeath my ability to stay out late every night to Norma Schmidt who is doing quite well To John Witt I will my editorship of the Blue Streak I, Lavern Logeman, will and bequeath my ability to keep out of trouble to Dean Johns who could certainly use it I, Ed Williamson, will and bequeath my position as center on the basketball team to my cousin Gary Flynn, my solid geometry book I leave to uChuckn Witte who will probably find more use for it than I have. I, Melvin witt, will and bequeath my ability to get out of trouble to John Nitt and my ability not to get along with girls I leave to my brother Don who won't have to worry. To the teachers of Bennington High School we leave the memories of a class that was always quiet, had their lessons in on time, and always agreed on everything that they were told. Class Prophecy Uoon graduation from hivh school I, Donna, went to college and took nurs ina After recelvlnv m degree as a rapist red rurs , I was iven a so ci l as sivnment to vo to europe After retarninv to the United States from Wurooe, I d cide o vo back to Qennlnvton to see my classmates and teachers Ten years have zone by since the class of T5 have all be n to he Q n ninvton is no lon er the small villafe I knew, but rather a rapidly vrowln city The school buildinv in vhivh ve att nded our classe is non onli th 'unior lich buildlnr N w bulldin s have b en added to house the other era s Anoth r m provement is our old hanr'out, the cafe, which has a large addition The name of it is the Williamson Steakhouse The name Williamson seems fsmiliar so I de ide to walk in to see whether it is the Villiamson with whom I graduated recognize him at once as I walk in I see him standing, talking to one of his waitress s He recovnizes me immediately and com s to talk to me Not having seen each other since graduation, we sit and talk about old tlmes He tells that Jerry' Gottsch is married to his hirrh school sweetheart, Dorls, and 1 living on his father's farm They have two lovely children, a boy and a girl Ed and I decide to so see J rry and his family While we are sitting in the living room on Jerry'sn farm, a sharp black Cadillac drives on the place Much to our surprise it is Melvin Vltt who Five Star eneral in the Army He is spending a few days at home Valvin tells us all about his Army care r, ard soon it is lunch time Doris pr paras a deli cious lunch, since we were always a class that were hungry Melvin tells that Lavern is the owner of a large auto repair shoo in D s Moines, Iowa After we finish with lunch, we decide to take a ride in Malv1n's Cadillac Everyone decides it would be nice to vo see Lavern Since Des Moines is four hour drive, we arrive at Lav rn's auto repair shoe iust at closin time Lavern is haoov to see us and invites everyone to have supper at his house and meet his wife and dau hter His wife is very happy to see us, sinc she has house with pl nty of room for everyone The next morninn after breakfast Lavern calls his assistant and asks him to take over for the day, s'nce he is coinv back to Bennlnaton with a vrouo of his classmates to have a dinner reunion that evening at the Jllliamson Steakhouse Since the group is rettlnv a little larv , Lave n and his family t k their new station wagon Upon our arrival at Bennington w s e Gary Flynn on the str et As most of our class are together, we think it vould be nice for Tom Flynn to be at our gathering Gary tells us that he is Chief of Police in Grand Island Since we have been riding so much, we decide to call Tom Gary have us his telephone number Tom is very happy to hear from us and says that he and his wife, Mary Lou, and tzln dau hters will be in Bennington that evenlnp in time for ou din ner But, wait a minute, one of our classmates hasn't been contacted Rose hary Doris says she has just moved to Fremont Immediately we rush to the filling station where her brother works We tells us that she is married and has tno boys, and they are livirr ith her father at 1915 Pin Street in Fremont S all get into their cars a aln and drive to Fremont Since it is lunch time again, Rose Mary invites us to stay for a small lunch After lunch we tell her of the plans for that evening She oronises to be there vith her husband She tells us that our high schocl Unalis t acher, 1ss Mohr, is at the head of the English department at Tidlani Coll We then drive to Midland which is only a few blocks fartner fe find 'iss Mohr at her desk in h r office She is over1oyed to see us and has no other nlans for that evening so also promises to join us She then tells us that Mr Doran and Mr Reese are still teachino in Bennington Ne iournev back to Qennington and stop at the school house for a visft with T Doran and Tr Reese As we are walking down the lonr corridor, we see on the door Nilliam Reese, Head Coach auietly, we walk in and there sits our sen lor class sponsor, Mr Reese He is talkin to one of the teachers whom we rec ognize immediately as r Doran, our hivh school geometry and shop teacher, who is now head of the shop classes They are pleasantly surprised to see us, and we talk to them for a f w mlnu es and tell them of our plans for dinner at the Jilllamson Steakhouse at nine that evening Thev nromise faithfully to be there . . v . 1, , e D . e PM ..e- a .- r. rx 0 I L . .4 ' e . t . -V - , ., ,. . . , -e f'et,. r. e - .
