C ass Histor At nine o'clock on September.L 1952, the freshman class consisted of seven members. They were Lavern Logeman, District M03 Gerald Gottsch, District 633 Donna Kominek, Sharon Lund, Malvln Witt, Tom Flynn, and Rose Mary Hansen who were gradu- ated from Bennington On September 3, class officers were elected as follows Donna, president, Sharon, vice president, Rose Mary, secretary, and Tom, treasurer M Ruchte was chosen as their class sponsor The subjects taught the freshmen were English by Miss Mohr, algebra by Mr Stucker, and biology and world geography by Mr Ruchte Sharon dropped algebra the second semester On the morning of September 26, the freshmen came to school dressed in the clothes that the sophomores had requested them to wear The class members were dressed as follows Sharon and Jerry Negro couple, Rose Mary farmer, Tom track man, Malvin an old woman, Lavern a red headed girl, and Donna a bum All the girls in the class were members of the Pep Club Rose Mary and Donna partlcipated in volleyball Baseball season started in the fall of 1952 All the boys in the class went out for it No one lettered October 6 all the freshman boys reported for basketball practice Tom and 'Jerry were members of the first ten October lO the freshmen entertained the high school by having a style show, with the boys as models Costumes worn by the boys were as follows Gerald, a neat looking, strictly high school fashion skirt and sweater, Lavern, a dress with ac cessories to be worn for afternoon tea, nTom, a pair of slacks and an off the shoulder blouse just the thing for a picnic, Malvin, a dress to be worn for those all important dates An enyoyable dance and lunch followed this very interesting program In music Sharon took part in the girls' sexette and the triple trio At the music contest she sang the solq nBy the Bend of the River n Rose Mary was in the mixed octette The entire class took part in the music festival and contest, and the girls took part in the local music program on February 23 Donna and Rose Mary were the only two members of the freshman class that par ticipated in declamatory work Donna took part in the dramatic division by giving the reading, 'Blind Faith Rose Mary participated in the humorous division by gi ng the reading, 'I a at the Races Track season started in the spring of '53 on March 25 All the freshman boys took part in track The boys entered in the following events Gerald Gottsch, and pole vault, Lavern Logeman, 880 yd dash and M40 yd dash On August 31, 1953, all the same students as had been freshmen again reported for school to be classed as sophomores On December 7 nEdn Williamson reported for school He had attended school in Bla1r previously Faculty members this year were Miss Edna Mohr, Mr Verle Stucker, and Mr Carl Ruchte Subjects taken by the sophomores were English, applied mathematics, world his tory, general science, and music 'Ed' took biology and geometry in place of gen al science and applied mathematics On September h, class officers were elected They were as follows president Lavern Logeman, vice president Sharon Lund, Secretary Donna Kominek, and trea surer Tom Flynn They had Mr Carl Ruchte for their sponsor On September2S,the sophomores initiated the freshman class That evening they held a dance at school and invited the entire high school All the boys went out for basketball, baseball, and track Tom and Gerald played on the first team in basketball, and uEd played in the second team baseball Tom, Malvin, and 'Jerry played outfield Jerry and Malvin lettered in baseball, Jerry, Tom, and Ed in basketball, ani Torn and Jerry in tra k ' ' . o Pe 1 g Q 0 On ' .
