The organization originally, before our Cath- olic High School was built, existed to insure the spiritual strength of Catholic students who were unable to receive Catholic secondary education. With its aim being spiritual development, its exercises are concentrated on cultivating and fulfill- ing the spiritual lives of its members. Observances of Holy Hours and Communion Sundays play an important role in the carrying out of its aim. Spiritual and Corporal works of mercy are also among the exercises promoted. Once a year, in a designated period, observance of a National Cath- olic Youth Week is held. During this week daily Mass and Communion are encouraged. C.Y.O. is not, however, without its social side. Dances, parties, and other forms of entertainment are sponsored. While with the completion of Catholic High School the need for a Catholic Youth Organization has decreased, it is still an excellent opportunity for the public expression of our faith. ST.
