G r u I O n At 8:00 p.m. on May 25th, forty BHS seniors dressed in maroon and silver, went thru pomp and circumstance. A precommencement concert was given by Les Thos- tenson and his band at 7:15 p.m. and Deb Ketelsen gave her last concert as chorus director at BHS at 7:35 p.m. Scholarships were given to: Linda Kroeger for the Randy Rekemeyer Memorial, Linda Kroeger and Diane Spickermann for the Bessie Dutton Murray with Sandy Hawkins and Tina Walls as alternates. Awards were given to Keri Timmerman for DAR Good Citizen, Earl Spicker- mann for taking four years of Science, Diane Spickermann received top honors in her class with a grade point average of 3.987 and title of Valedictoriang Tina Walls was awarded Salutatorian honors with a GPA of 3.877. Other members of the class of '79 that had a GPA of 3.00 or better were: Earl Spickermann, Linda Kroeger, Ellen Sievers, Randal Krug, Shelly Mumm, Susan Wright, Scott Holdorf, Mark Schmidt, Colleen Rekemeyer and Denise Burmeister. Speeches were given by Keri Timmerman and Randy Krug on Looking Back Thru the Yearsn and What NOT to do in High School fa little advice for under- classmenj. All parents received a long stemmed rose as their son or daughters name was called. Each board member got a chance to hand out diplomas, a special note-Val Schmidt fBoard Memberj got to give her son, Mark, his diploma and also Wayne Ralfs CBoard Memberl got to give his son, Kevin, his. A special note of thanks and a plant was given to Mr. Don Ketelsen, class spon- sor, and his wife, for all the time and help they have given to the class of 1979 thru the years by class president, Ellen Sievers. Other officers were Keri Timmerman- vice president, Suzanne Weih-secretary and Shelly Mumm-treasurer.
