Girls Varsity Basketball C Q The Bomberettes ended their season with a record of 20-6. They were sec- ond place in conference play. High- lights of the season were tournament games, as they brought home the sec- ond place plaque for Sectional Run- ners-up. The Bomberettes continued to win in District, by defeating L8LM, WACO and finally West Branch 67-65, who beat them by 21 points earlier in the season. This win gave them the Dis- trict Championship and they then ad- vanced to Regional play where they were defeated by Bettendorf. Coach Bill Huckstadt received his 400th career win during the season. Four girls were selected to the All- Conference teams: Sandy Hawkinsf lst team guard, Sally Weih-2nd team forward, Suzy Weih and Renee Schneid- er, guard and forward respectively, each made third team. Sandy Hawkins was also named to 4th team All-State and Honorable Mention in the Iowa Daily Press Team. Team members voted Sally Weih- Most Valuable Forward, Sandy Hawkins -Most Valuable Guard, Most Valuable Player and Hardest Worker in Prac- tice and finally, Renee Schneiderw Most Improved Player. JV Girls Basketball Bennett's JV Bomberettes ended their basketball season with a 10-2 record and an offensive average of 44.9 points and a defensive average of 32.8 points. Coach Bill Huckstadt commented that the teams greatest improvement was in the defense. He added that the key to their success was the defen- sive leadership and their ability to hold the team together. The JV squad chose Virginia Hawkins-Most Valuable Guard, Kris Siebel-Most Valuable Forward, Virginia Hawkins- Most Valuable Player, and Tracy Weih-Most Improved Player and Hardest Worker in Practice.
