Special FFA Honors Tina Keppy, Jolene Keppy and David Wendt, with Mark Schmidt as the alternat4 was Bennett's FFA Judging team this year. After taking first at the Cedar County Fair and at the State Fair where they tool first place out of l 13 teams, they went on to Kansas City, Missouri in November for the National competition. Here, they competed with 47 other FFAjudging teams as an all-Iowa State team. While the judging team was in Kansas City they received a plaque for placing 23rd out of 47 other state teams. The judging consisted of six placing classes, three sets of oral reasons, one swine evaluation class and three evaluation classes. For getting the most points out ofthe three team, Jolene received the National Silver award. Dave and Tina received the Bronze National Award. Mark represented the Iowa team for Beef Showmanship. He received 2nd place and a Gold Award out of 20 people. Dave Wendt commented, It was fun, but it took a lot of hard work to get there. This year was the 51st National FFA Convention in Kansas City. Kevin Ralfs Stuffs It On January 29, 1979, Kevin Ralfs added some extra excite ment to the game against Midland as he went down the court for a slam dunk with S6 seconds left in the second quarter. The crowd roared for nearly a minute as he received a stand- ing ovation.
