CHESS CLUB - Row 1: Ioel DeMarco, Pamm Merriiield, Scott Ivory, Chris Tomaszewskig Row 2: Michael Taub, Matt McDonough, Iohn lsker, Neal Goldberg. CHESS CLUB The Chess Club was formed to provide an atomosphere of learning and enjoyment for students inter- ested in the game of chess. The Club meets every Friday after school and members participate in discussions about past games or change in friendly competition among themselves. The top live players from the club form Ben- nett's Chess Team which competes for All-High Honors in the Queen City Tournament among all High Schools of Buffalo. It is predicted that they will eventually win the city championship. 213

Comilia Hilliary, Denise Brown, Darlene Thomas, Karen Flood Row 2: Claudia Hightower, Esther Wright HI-Y GROUPS Enthusiastic and concerned girls joined together under the auspices of the Y.M.C.A. of Buffalo to form Gamma, Delta Chi Beta, and Lam- bda Nu, in order to create, main- tain, and extend throughout the homes, schools and extend through- out the homes, schools, and com- munity high standards of Christian character. This Year the Hi-Ys sponsored fashion shows, dances and collected canned goods for the needy. BENNETTONIAN This year's Benny staff has its usual share of lunatics. Charles Arcudi, last years Sports Editor, is Editor-in-Chief: Sue Lewis is the illustrious Associ- ate Editor: Debbie Kinsey is Feature Editor and verbal commentator: Nancy Staub is News Editor and jim Girard is the Sports Editor. Rounding out the major staff are the Layout Editors, Anne Perry and Bobbie Bernsteing Creativ- ity Column Editor, Sonia Efrong Business Manager, Sam Taub, and Assistant Business Manager, Amy Blumenson. As you see from this lengthy list, an unusually high number. of people are involved in BEN- NETTONIAN this year. Whether this is an in- dication of the editors' generosities or simply be- cause of the fact that they need all the help they can get remains a mystery. Mr. Baum resumed his duties as advisor for the paperg his second year at the position. One of the many accomplishments of this year's staff was a mid-year decoration and paint touch up of the newsroom: the stunning renovation left many a student gaping and an equal number scrap- ing paint off their bodies.
