Yet, no matter what activities one participates in. all of us will agree: Somewhere, at sometime, we all did something together, as friends, as Bennett sisters, and as a community. During a week in July, members of the Wyoming Conference (Pennsylvania) of the United Methodist Church volunteer their skills and labor to give Steele Hall a new look. In early August, painters give Merner Hall a fresh coat of paint before Belles arrive. I m mm 10 mmm ■  • ' ■■ ' ' The Class Of 1992 Getting freshmen settled in is a major task at Bennett during Freshman Orientation Week. This year Bennett welcomed 237 young women to her roster. Sonja Hendrix. Miss Bennett College 1988-89. and Kathryn Lynn Marshall. SGA President, are on hand to greet freshmen and their families. Nicole Short is happy to be at Bennett Lorraine Patton experiences problems during ori entation despite an early arrival on campus. 12 Being a freshman sure is fun! 13 m More and more freshmen arrive as the day goes on. Mothers stand in line with their daughters while fathers and sons unload the cars. Through it all, Bennett staff members keep a happy face with the exception of Ms. Hughes, who has seen her share of freshmen come and go. mmmm 15 vm Each year the freshman class is treated to a special picnic that is hosted by the president of the college. The event serves as a welcome from college administrators, faculty and staff. There is lots of good food and fun to be had by all. LJ? 17 Dormitory Life Living in the dorm is one of the best experiences of going to college. It ' s not everyday a person lives with 6O90 girls under one roof. This is your new home, your new family. Staying up late and watching television in the parlor provide the best times. Another enjoyable pastime is having one of the girls curl your hair while everyone in the room is talking about everything from classes to guys. Dormitory life helps you to expand your own individualism by seeing and hearing about the lives of others. Everyone in the dorm helps each other to grow, to learn, to understand and to become a better, well-rounded person. Some students bring too much clothing to fit in tiny dorm spaces. This has been Bennett ' s first year in history to have all women in the administrative positions of the executive cabinet. This just proves that the old adage is correct. The best man for the job is a woman. Bennett has proven that by having Dr. Gloria Scott, president; Dr. Charlotte Alston, vice president of academic affairs; Dr. Dorothy Harris, vice president of student affairs; and Ms. Paula Young, vice president of institutional advancement. With the help of others, these four women have made several changes which have improved the Bennett environment. Some of the changes that have occurred are: new carpet in the residence halls and offices; an increased enrollment of freshman; a reinstated inter-collegiate athletics department; and new faculty and staff members.
