Semor Class Prophecy Havmg spent the last f1ve years 1n the far East as a WAVE ln the Unlted States Navy I d1dn't realtze untll I stepped aboard the plane leavlng for San Franclsco Just how homeslck I was for fam1l1ar faces volces and the old home town especxally the class of '52 The fhght was very pleasant and I had plenty of tlme to dream of other days On arrlvlng at San Francxsco I decxded to vlslt Hollywood and see some of the new stars before leavmg for home I took a taxx and traveled down the streets of Hollywood To my surprlse whose name dmd I see 1n brxght l1ghts'? None other than Phyllxs Whlte Could th1s posslbly be my old classmate? Oh' NO' Well perhaps It could be She had a lovely volce and was really good at actmg So I had the cabby stop pa1d h1m and went 1ns1de Sure enough It was she She took me to her lovely home to spend the nrght There I met her husband Charles The next mormng I boarded the plane for home wlth her part1ng words Tell everyone hello rlnglng m my ears Who do you suppose was the p1lot of our plane? No other than Paul Wlles I-Ie had had a letter from home and told me surprlslng thrngs about the home town Havlng had many hours IH the axr wlthout rest Paul became drowsy and wandered off our course whlch resulted IH our havlng a forced landlng near Beaver Utah As we stepped from the plane thankful we were all ln one plece we saw a young lady approachlng us Her walk looked famlhar to me also the llght ha1r Yes It was my good fr1end E11ene who was a country school teacher whlle her husband Lelghton Gustafson was preachlng ln a llttle vlllage church there They made the rest comfortable for the nlght but Erlene and I laughed and crled as we talked of school days unt1l the sun arose I tearfully bld her goodbye and agaxn started on my Journey Upon arr1v1ng 1n Llncoln I took the Zepher to Bennet xt hardly stopped long enough for me to get off I stood and stared had I gotten off at the wrong town? Skyscrapers all around me and Bennet A1rl1ne smgns greeted me on every slde Bennet Hotel and J C Penny's stores towered above the rest Who was askmg to carry my bag? Surely Iknew that llttle fat man Of course It was my old professor Mr Prochaska now the baggage man Would I ever be able to flnd my way to the schoolhouse or would I need a gu1de'P After gettrng lost and makxng several wrong turns I found It Even though two new wlngs had been added to take care of the ch1ldren ln the now prosperous town It brought back old memorles A new gym had also been added Not a famllxar face dxd I see unt1l I entered the door There stood Mrs Bratt now prmcxpal and Mr Carlm now professor as well as coach Yes Mr York was there also stlll pushmg the broom Mrs Bratt told me that Mrs Extel was now at the Umverslty of Nebraska st1ll trymg her best to teach good behavlor to the boys that went there from Bennet I-hgh Also that Mr Ivan Mlller was head band master there Mr Carlm mformed me that Just south of town was the largest daxry ln the state supplymg m1lk to the hundreds of famllles now ln Bennet that lt was owned by a class mate of mme Harold Kempkes and hxs wxfe the former R1ta Beecham I spent the evemng wxth them and they told me of many fr1ends that I hadn't tlme to see There was stlll one I had not seen nor heard of Harold told me to to west of Lmcoln and I would flnd hlm Sure enough as I neared Emerald I saw a large modern buxldmg The sxgn read Hagaman's Construct1on Compa y It's proprletor was none other than my classmate .hm I-Iagaman On returmng to Lmcoln I agam boarded a plane for the East as Ihad a report to make at Washmgton D C before returnmg to Bennet where I w1ll settle down and wrlte a book of my hfe and my experxences ln the far East for flve years away from famlllar scenes and faces IS enough for me O , 1 7 , . . . , .
