Cardozo School Of Law Was Officially Inaugurated On April 11, 1976, At A Convocation Which Featured An Address By U.S. Supreme Court Justice Lewis F. Powell, Jr. Justice Powell Was Awarded An Honorary Degree At The Convocation, As Were U.S. Attorney General Edward H. Levi, Israel's Ambassador To The United Nations Chaim Herzog, Cardozo's Chairman Of The Board, Morris B. Abram, And Henry L. Schwartz, President Of The Brookdale Foundation. Having Been Accredited By The American Bar Association In 1982, Cardozo's Deans Have Included Acting Dean Lester Brickman, John Hanks, Now Commissioner Of Franchise Of The City Of New York And, Currently, Monroe E. Price Who Came To Cardozo In 1983 From U.C.L.A. In Recent Years, Cardozo Has Added A Number Of Prestigious Endowed Programs To Its Academic Foundation, Including The Jacob Burns Institute For Advanced Legal Research And The Samuel And Ronnie Heyman Center On Corporate Governance, Two Major Avenues Through Which Cardozo Will Pursue Intensive Legal Research And Education.
