DAVID RUDENSTINE Associate Professor of Law. B.A., 1963, M.A.T., 1965, Yale University: J.D., 1969, New York University. Professor Rudenstine was a fellow in the New York University Arthur Garfield Hays Civil Liberties Program, having spent the two years preceding his entry into law school in Uganda as a Peace Corps volunteer. Professor Rudenstine was a staff attorney in the New York City Legal Services Program from 1969 to 1972, and served as director of the Citizen's Inquiry on Parole and Criminal Justice, Inc., a nonprofit research corporation, from 1972 to 1974. He was counsel to the National News Council until the end of 1974, when he joined the New York Civil Liberties Union, where he served as a project director, associate director, and acting executive director. He has written articles on parole, sentencing, and the First Amendment, and is the primary author of Prison Without Walls: Report on New York Parole and sole author of Rights of Ex- Offenders. He has also been a Guggenheim Visiting Fellow atthe Yale Law School and a participant in a National Endowment for the Humanities Seminar. .University of Chicago. a member of the American Law Institute. Professor Silver received his law degree cum laude, was a mem- ber ofthe Order of the Coif, and received the Jefferson B. Fordham Award. He was chairman of the Prison Research Council, a student group aiding indigent prisoners. Following graduation, Professor Silver was law clerk to Judge William H. Hastie of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit C1973-743. He was an associ- ate in law at Columbia University H974-751, served with the Office of the- General Counsel, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission j1975j, and has done consulting work for the National Academy of Sciences.
