The Tan Curtain Opens on a Cafeteria Scene lThe Cook is standing on the counter, hammering up a sign which reads: Fresh Hot Dogs. The sign on the side reads: Silverware 10 Cents. A cardboard clock reads: 12:30. Max gestures to Lady Max. A bell rings. She whips out a black notebook and red pencil as the nobles rush wildly in, some running to pay for silverware while others are getting on line for food.
