Donald Harris, Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools, has taught and been a counselor in the systems junior high schools since 1958. Mat'thew Costanzo was the principal of -the Jackson School prior to assuming his duties as Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools. He started his teaching career in 1955, and was successively promoted to consulting teacher, counselor, vice-principal, Auxiliary Principal and Principal. Alfred Hebeisen, Asso- ciate Superintendent in charge of all personnel for the School District. Mr. Hebeisen received his B.S. from the US. Naval Aca- demy and Master's Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was in the US Marine Corps and was retired as a Lieutenant Colo- nel. J. Edgar Durham, Director of Finance for the School Dis- trict. He was former Deputy Director of Finance for the City of Philadelphia. He is a mem- ber of the Municipal Finance Officers Association, Exchange Club and Phi Delta Theta. David Horowitz, Associate Superin- tendent for Curriculum. He has been an elementary and junior high school teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He taught at Temple University. Mr. Horo- witz was Superintendent of District 7, and Associate Superintendent-Schopl- Community Relations prior to his present i- position.

Dr. Whittier began his career as a teacher in Chicago. He was graduated from the University of Chicago with a BA. and also received his MA. and PhD. from the same school. He was a Fellow in Education in Chicago and interned in Administration in the Oak Park, Illinois School System. He has taught at Iowa State Teachers College, was a principal in Davenport, Iowa, St. Peters- burg, Florida, and Assistant Superintendent of Schools in Pinellas County, Florida. Joseph Pollock, is the Director of the Division of Informational Services. Pte- viously he was Assistant to the President of the Board of Public Education He has been a teacher at all levels in the system,o vice principal and principal. Harry Saunders, Consultant for the School District of Philadelphia in the area of School Facilities, is on temporary as- signment here. He is the Administrative Coordinator for Schoolhouse Planning for the Los Angeles Public Schools. ' x Dr. Daniel Prescott, a Consultant in the field of child growth and develop- ment. Dr. Prescott, here from the Uni- versity of Maryland, consults With the Curriculum Department directly. Dr. Pres- cott had previously consulted with the Philadelphia Public Schools in 1945-48. Jay Zal, is in charge of Public Rela- tions' for the School District in the Divi- sion of Informational Services. Prior to his coming to the city, he was associated with Cornell University in fund raising. He was News Director for the N.A.M. 5
