FAC ULTY w WA 6 9 D 99,99 tk I In the last few years there has been a considerable emphasis placed on the use of gtteaching ma- chinesg, in the field of education. There is nothing new about ttteaching machines? They are as old as education itself. The ttteaching machine? present the individual student with programs of questions and answers, problems to be solved and exercises to be performed. This is based on the Socratic plan of teaching. But in modern times, there is one teacher to one classroom of students of assorted intellects, back- ground, ambitions and drives. At Benjamin F ranklin, the teachers and students realize only too well that learning cannot be ful- filled if we rely too much on the ttteaching machineab method. It has been the personal contact, warm understanding, and individual attention given by the faculty to the students of our school that has made knowledge more than a matter of filling in blanks at our noble school.
