We walked into these hallowed old halls one autumn morning in 1984. We brought with us new life and fresh, untouched pride and spirit in our new home - Bosse. As I look back, we were not a typical, shy, timid freshman Class. Instead, we forged straight into the mainstream of Bosse life. We became active im- mediately in all phases of high school. We were academically competitive and ready, willing, and definitely able to contribute to extracurricular ac- tivities as well as all areas of athletics. Our soph- omore and junior years proved that we were ded- icated to our school goals, as we continued the work that we had begun as freshmen. So, now, we have come to the end of our four- year journey. We came and we served. It was a true privilege to be a Bosse Bulldog e a member of the Class of 1988. We will leave a little of us behind and take a lot of Bosse with us. Truly, our beloved Benjamin Bosse High is a HClass School. Likewise, we, the class of 1988, can be proud, as we reach individually for our own stars, to know in our hearts that we are A Class Act. I shall carry Bosse and you in my heart. Twenty-five years have passed since my graduation from Bosse High School. The one thing that always brings a warm glow to those memories from 50 many years ago is the yearbook from the Class of '62. I'm sure that this yearbook for the Class of '88 will be one of the finest produced by your e classmates and one that will always serve as a t t! t reminder of the friends you made, the good ' experiences you had, and the educational opportunities you took. The Class of 88 has much to be proud of, and this yearbook will serve as a caretaker of those memories. Mr. Jack Benjamin Mr. Bill Pardue Seniors Juniors Robert W. During Mu Ianls first 7 years, the Bulldogs amassed an impressive 139 wins against only 31 losses. This years sluggish start was understandable considering the Cir- cumstances. Starters Dirkk Surles and Matt Wan erin, along with Robbie Young and reserve players Chris Hoke an Jon Surles, were forced to sit out the first 5 games for violating an IHSAA rule by all playing on the same church league team. After the second game of the season, Coach Mullan dismissed Senior point guard Alonzo Hall, but the team did not told. Led by the outside shooting of Kyle Finn and newcomer Bret Stinson and the inside play of seniors Gary Frazier and Tim Meriweather, the Bulldogs won 4 of their first 5 games. Senior Larry Kelsey played surprisingly well in place of Hall in victories over Princeton and Memorial. Reminiscent of the great Bosse teams of the early1805, the Bulldogs used tenacious, precise defense and a balanced offense to post a decisive 84-68 victory. Alas,tha1 glimpse of the past would be short-Iived. A heartbreaking 91.80 overtime loss to Harrison was the first of 4 consecutive setbacks. The Bulldogs rebounded somewhat with a win at Mount Vernon behind 30 points from Surles. In a game marred by the now infamout Hburning crossN Frazierts 18 points led a balanced scoring attack as Bosse pulled out a 77-75 victory at Heritage Hills. The Bulldogs returned to the Stadium to play Owensboro Senior and chalked u their third straight win. On Feb. 5, Bosse continued its streak of bad games in Harris gym. This time around, the opponent was Jasper. The Bulldogs t the game and their three-game-win streak. Four days later, Bosse 1 to go into overtime to beat a scra py Tell City squad 58-52. During these years, I have developed a spenial feeling about the people that make up Bosse High School. Many students who have to leave Bosse to enroll elsewhere yearn to return to Bosse. Teachers, too, who are transferred elsewhere, frequently ret all with fondness their past relationships at Bosse. These faetors speak well of the kind of student body and staff that make up Bosse High School. Bosse students possess many positive attributes about whith they tan be proud. The courtesy and thoughtfulness for others that is manifested here by the students is commendable. Bosse has always been blessed with a faculty that is academically strong and fosters strong positive feelings for the welfare of the students Many outwit? Class hours are devoted to extra activities that make sdtool HHTTC alive. The counseling staff is the best, working hard to advise and counsel students. And where will you find a secretarial and bookstore staff that does more for the students? The administrators, department heads, and coaches do many things to help keep Bosse rolling. Team work is the name of the game. In all walks of life, we see former Bosse students succeeding. ln government, ' the professions, employees in all kinds of work, and as parents, we see them l performing well. Many former students return to Bosse eaeh years Many pause to Lomment about the good start in life they received here. Yes, the faculty and students of Bosse High School can be proud of their heritage and of their many achievements. Thank you, staff, students, and parents for 26 years of work whith have been t remarkably rewarding. Marlan Maidlow Note: Mr. Maidlow is retiring from the EvansvilIe-Vanderburgh County School Corporation in 1988. Prior to his Viee-Prineipal position, he was a Bosse counselor and teacher of biology.
