Members of this familiar senior quartet are from left Ato right Dale 1Vork, Bill Moth, Dan Brciclenbaeh and jim Talbert. '-1 ., s.- '- ' AS Novemlwl- 1-1, 1951, dltw max Musity Town , under the direction of jim Sonnemaker and Charlene Mullins began to take shape. Prac- tices after school on the stage, committee meet- ings and crews at work in the attic kept us busy. Finally the big day arrived. The backstage buzzed as makthup was applied, costumes were put on and last minute loose ends were tied. Then - all at once. the entire student body was rush- ing through the halls and out the doors. The term Bomb Scarei' spread through the building like wildfire as policemen swarmed everywhere and junior Talent Day was postponed. Came the next day, however, music and applause came from the auditorium. ln the spring of 1958 reigning over 'i0rient:'l Illusionsv, our junior prom, were Charlene Hugh- es and Ronnie Volkman. The magic of that eve- ning was present again in the fall as Charlene stepped out of a beautiful convertible onto the football field to be crowned 1958 football queen. Caught in the act, Senior Talent Day act, that Ls, are Ian Kerney and Bob Seylzold as they dance to the tune of Slaughter On Fifth Auenuef' This yearis Penthouse ,59 proved to he a .s'ucees.s' and lots of fun and hard work for our class. We've Been Developing The senior prom, i'Fascination,U found Judy Kotch and George YVaters reigning in regal splen- dor. Later in the year, Diana Harris, junior, was chosen basketball queen. The band played as she walked onto the huge basketball floor at Roberts Municipal Stadium. Russ Grieger delivered the traditional kiss as cheers filled the stadium. Early in january 1959 it started. A small buzz that steadily grew louder and louder became i'Penthouse ,59 , Senior Talent Day. Its not as easy as it sounds, for the script committee in particular knows that feathers flew and brains were drained before March 6 and the perform- ance. Our faculty sponsors for the show, Mrs. Mary lieth Burns and L. B. Johnston, worked with us at every rehearsal. They helped the committees and lended moral support when it was needed. Mic decided nPenthouse '59 had to be great. and with all our hard work it was. The set took three days to put up and weeks to construct. The acts practiced constantly for weeks in advance. even through one of the worst flu epidemics in the last few years. Some acts had to be canceled because of illness, but even more went on al- though the performers were sick. The work was not in vain. Penthouse 59 was something we all took pride in and loved working on.
