BASEBALL, coached hy Art Acker, got off to a slow start this year, but after they got a few games under their br-lt, they turned on the steam and at the time senior edition went to press hey had a win streak of four games going. Spring rains slowed the team down in early May. Before their first game they had only a few practices in which to thaw out their winter kinks. Opening their season with two losses to XVadesville, and Jasper, 3-1 and 4-2, respectively, our team finally got in the win col- umn, downing Mater Dei in their third game, 9-0. After dropping their fourth gaune to Memorial, 4-2, our glovemen started their win streak. First came Tell City, 9-1, then North 4-0, all falling to the 1low-experienced dizunontl crew. Lincoln fell to our squad 24-l. Next a previously un- beaten Pieitz team came tumbling down, 3-2, under our powerful force. Seniors Eddie Epperson, Torn Dorris, Don Hess, Ron Folz and Barry John- son all helped to stage the win streak. These seniors were hacked by a powerful squad of nnderclassmen. The hunt signal is on, and senior Don Ilcss reaches out for the bail in an attempt to sacrifice ri Bossa runner flown to .second base. Coach Art Ackcr watches the action from the third base coaching box while Ilcss .stretclzcs out to reach the low pitch. 25
