these four seniors guided us through our last semesters Loaded with senior headaches, Don Bailey handled well the duties of senior class president along with his s other many activities. Don earned Scholarship B, Scarlet and Cray and Committee of One throughout his high school career. He was initiated into the National Honor Society in his junior year. Be- sides being elected as senior presi- dent, he also served as sophomore president. He was an active member of Student Council being chainnan of Building and Grounds committee and a member of the Control board. His team buddies elected him foot- ball captain after he had played on the varsity squad team for three years. He also participated in track and received two varsity letters. Don plans to attend college and may enter into minsterial work. Pete Salm, a member of VVoodrow Pembei-ton's homeroom, served as treasurer of the 1951 Senior Class. Pete was on Committe of One for three years and received Scarlet and Gray for four years. As a freshman he served on the freshman party com- mittee and was master of ceremonies for the sophomore party. Pete plays the alto saxophone in the band and also acts as first lieutenant. He is a member of the Legislative com- ' mittee of the Student Council. Pete appeared in freshman, junior and senior Talent Days. He also served on the talent selection committee for Senior Talent Day. we cfzade gaacfleacfead... In all the rush of our many senior activities led by the senior offi- cers, we must not forget those who headed our class in former years. W'hen we were freshmen the student council used us as guinea pigs to try out the idea of campaigning in class elections. We chose Richard Klipsch, presidentg Bob L. Campbell, vice presidentg Caro- line Lukens, secretary, and Lewis Plane, treasurer, to worry with the freshman party and other activities during that first hard year. The next year we let Don Bailey bear the burdens of the sopho- more party and elected Tom Bea as vice-president. This time Caro- line and Lewis traded jobs as he became secretary and she took over the money matters. More recently, jerry Baugh presided over our junior class, assisted by vice-president Don Basler, secretary Paddy Richter and treasurer Betty. Nelson. Their job was a little harder than that of their predeg cessors, because they had the duty of running our first talent day and prom. 12 Martha Wilson, who is active through- out school, kept the records for our senior class. Martha has received Scholarship B, Scarlet and Gray and Committee of One and is a member of the Na- tional Honor Society. She has also been an active member of the Student Council. At all the athletic events, Martha could be seen leading the yells. As a senior, she was crowned football queen and was a football queen at- tendent in her junior year. Her home- room selected her to be ilower girl at Commencement last year. Martha was a member of a quartet which participated in hoth junior Talent Day and Senior Talent Day and she was also talent selecting committee chairman for Senior Talent Day. William Schmidt, a member of Her- man Keller's homeroom, served as vice-president of the 1951 graduating class. Bill has been a recipient of Scar- let and Cray, Committee of One, and Scholarship B. He was made a member of the National Honor Society in his senior year. Bill spent most of his time practicing and playing base- ball. He eamed his varsity letter as second baseman. A varsity letter was also awarded him in tennis. He takes an active part in the Methodist Youth Federation of his church of which he is President. He also works in the district and sub- district federation. , s 'gs i
