The years 1959 and I960 are likely to be remembered by this year's sophomore class as a transition period. Although sophomores are often characterized as wise fools, rare is the man who at one time or another was not deserving of this description. Despite the distractions in his life, the typical sophomore begins to look beyond his everyday existence to more important things and begins preparing for his future. A distinguished record may be claimed by Benilde's sophomore class of 59 and '60. Few tenth grade classes can boast of more enthusiastic school spirit. Sophomore support of school activities has been terrific, as is shown by their attendance at games and by their generous participation in school projects. Despite wide extra-curricular interests, in general the sophomore class has maintained a high scholastic average. Things may have been tough at times, but any goal worth reaching is likely to entail hard work. The sophomores have proved their potential by providing a strong foundation for success in later life. The challenge of the future is theirs to meet and accept. Page 30
