Largely Through her eTTorTs, The healTh examinaTions, vaccina- lions, TB. X-rays, and various healTh clinics were begun. She worked in coniuncTion wiTh The counTy, bringing crippled chil- dren To hospiTals where They would receive The besT possible physical care. In her capaciTy as nurse she was always available aT any Time oT The day or nighT, oTTen adminisTering bedside care To The sicli. In The course oT her welTare work, she insTigaTed cloThing, TurniTure, and Tood collecTions and disTribuTed The arTicles To The deserving Tamilies in The communiTy. She cooperaTed wiTh The Kiwanis Club in exTending aid To needy children, providing glasses, medicines and oTher necessiTies. We all lmnow ThaT The average Teen ager is bois- JCTOIIS, impeTuous, Tull oT Tun, and aT Times irrespons- ible. BuT weren'T we all This and more when we were growing up? I-low easy iT is Tor us To TorgeT ThaT we Too had our Troubles when we were in our Teens. And haven'T you oTTen heard The grownups bewail The TacT ThaT our young people are simply Terrible- in TacT, They are really going To The dogs. Then, in The same conversaTion, we hear This same grownup brag abouT The wild escapades and mean Tricks he pulled when he was a boy in his Teens. Yes, and I have heard This righT here in Benicia, Too! If we are Tair minded, we musT admiT ThaT The maioriTy oT our Teen agers or bobby soxers Talce an inTeresTed and acTive parT in The normal healThy acTiviTies OT young people. OT course, There are a Tew who geT inTo Trouble, some oT iT serious. I-Iowever, excepT in unusual circumsTances, if a Teen ager has goTTen inTo serious Trouble, you may be sure ThaT one or more adulTs have Tailed in Their responsibiliTy Tor The young person. I. Tor one, say our Teen agers are swell, and They are as Tine now as They were when I was a boy. Our hope is in our young people. We grownups haven'T done Too well. LeT's give The young Tollcs a chance!
