The final seleclion was a gold ring wilh a blaclc onyx selling lor lhe Panlher cresl. The class year was on eilher side of lhe cresl, and inside lhe band lhree inilials of lhe sludenls were engraved. The Barn Dance on January IO was a huge success. The audilorium was decoraled wilh barnyard scenes, and original hill-billy dances added lo lhe fun. The Junior Prom, mosl imporlanl occasion of lhe year, was scheduled April 25 al lhe l,D.E.S. l-lall. Under lhe direclion of Miss Violel Molfino and lhe sludenl commillee, headed by l-lope Paedon and Eugene Carmichael, lhe juniors worlced unlil lhe hall was lranslormed inlo a lovely garden on a slarlil nighl. Girls in prelly gowns and boys in formal allire danced and promenacled in a magical almosphere ol picliel fences, wishing wells, and be-aulilul flowers benealh a blue heaven. ln alhlelics, lhe junior boys made a good showing on all lhe reams, bul malcing lhe varsily in foolball and baslcelball were Ray Painler and Ken McConlogue. The girls won lhe inlerclass championship in A and B baslcelball. The class of '48 is counling lhe days unlil Ihey relurn as high 'n migh'ry seniors lo complele lhe lasl lap of lheir journey.
