And haven'T you oTTen heard The grownups bewail The TacT ThaT our young people are simply Terrible- in TacT, They are really going To The dogs. Then, in The same conversaTion, we hear This same grownup brag abouT The wild escapades and mean Tricks he pulled when he was a boy in his Teens. Yes, and I have heard This righT here in Benicia, Too! If we are Tair minded, we musT admiT ThaT The maioriTy oT our Teen agers or bobby soxers Talce an inTeresTed and acTive parT in The normal healThy acTiviTies OT young people. OT course, There are a Tew who geT inTo Trouble, some oT iT serious. I-Iowever, excepT in unusual circumsTances, if a Teen ager has goTTen inTo serious Trouble, you may be sure ThaT one or more adulTs have Tailed in Their responsibiliTy Tor The young person. I. Tor one, say our Teen agers are swell, and They are as Tine now as They were when I was a boy. Our hope is in our young people. We grownups haven'T done Too well. This group, meeTing wiTh The principal, Mr. Laurence l-lamann, discusses school problems, makes sTudenT body purchases, arranges acTiviTies, and seTs The school calendar. The TirsT acT oT The council was The decision Tor The colors oT The senior sweaTer. The issue was debared over blue and gold or green and whiTe. ATTer heaTed discussion, blue and gold was accepTed and will remain The oTTicial colors unTil The class oT '52 graduaTes. The revenue Trom TooTball games and The sale oT colces and programs gave a sub- sTanTial increase To The school Treasury. The sTudenT council used This money Tor The purchase oT warm-up garmenTs Tor The baslceTball and baseball Teams. The council arranged Tor The appearance OT Tour guesT arTisTs Tor assemblies Through- ouT The year. This proTessional enTerTainmenT was Thoroughly enjoyed by The sTudenTs. The council members have worked hard in Their aTTempT To please The sTudenT body, whom They represent and Their eTTorTs have been rewarded in a successful school year.
