Football Winning seven games and losing only once during the 1950 season, the Benicia High Panthers came out on top of the SCAL race for the third straight year. Displaying teamwork and cooperation in all of their games, the Panthers scared a total of 188 points while allowing their opponents only 76. Much credit is due for the three coaches, Phil Goettel, Bernard Corrigan, and George Drolette, who played an important part in all of the victories. Although there were 14 seniors on the squad there will be many returnees to bolster the 1951 team. Graduating seniors on the squad Were: Linemen, Dwight Hamro and Gene Curry. Ends: Bill Corn and Ken Liggett. Tackles: Chuck Chase, Bob Padgett, Charles Glass and lack Rahill. Guards: Tom Sorenson, Don Trent, Chet Carr, Bill Smothers, Mickey Craig, and Douglas Wold are all backiielcl men who will not return next year. At the end of the season the team elected lack Ptahill as honorary captain and Tom Sofenson as the most valuable player on the squad. The luniU Varsity season record was almost an exact opposite of the Varsity's. I-lowqver, the team gained valuable experience for next year's squad. The IV's lost alloiive ot their games including three league encounters. The games were all hardefought and the league contests were extremely close. I 7 IA .
