Columban contribute much to the family atmosphere at the Academy. Through its efforts selling tickets at football and basketball games, working on the fund drive, and organizing the Father-Son Com- munion Breakfast, the Dad ' s Club, led by president Mr. Ray Veselik, takes interest in and improves cam- pus activities. The Madonna Club performs a similar function under the direction of president Mrs. Romaine Burelbach, sponsoring the Home- coming Pep Rally and Bake Sale and the Mother-Daughter Communion Brunch and Fashion Show. The groups combine to plan activities such as the Parents and Friends Har- vest Dance and meetings with guest speakers and Drama Troupe per- formances.

From the first pep rally to the last game of the basketball season, the 1981-82 Benet Avions display their enthusiasm and school spirit. Their new moderator, Miss Mary Beth Hammond worked with co- captains Chris Phillippo and Clarice Gelhard to achieve perfection in the squad of 15 seniors, 7 juniors, and 5 sophomores. A new Fight Song routine was created, and practice was expanded to four times a week. Members of the squad attended two camps this year. Over the sum- mer at an NCA camp at ISU, eight of the girls joined to win two trophies, the Spirit Stick and the various rib- bons. Working Overtime Back Row left to right: Kim Thomas, Karen Overbey. A Year of Changes w Once again, the Benet Herald has proven to be a reliable source of school information. Copy editors be- came a new addition to this year ' s staff. The purpose of these two new positions was to alleviate some of the editor-in-chief s and associate edi- tor ' s extra work load. The staff suc- cessfully used new photo arrange- ments and copy layouts for the im- provement of the paper ' s general appearance. Many new writers also contributed to the over all success of this year ' s paper.
