Sophs: 14-0 Record Now that the former members of the Sophomore Baseball Team are upper classman, they can still look back on their season with pride. Mr. Nagis led this fine, group of baseball players to an overall record of 21-4. This is the best overall record that has been set during Mr. Nagis ' years of coaching the Sophomore Baseball Team. Their Conference record was a devastating 14-0 with Driscoll being the only team that posed any problem. The Freshmen Baseball Team was once again victorious. The team con- cluded this past season with an 1 1-5 record under the supervision of Coach Alvarez. The leading hitter of this tremendous team was Joe Kasko with an awesome average of .537. Others who contributed to this hitting powerhouse included Dan DeCarlo, Leo Demm, Andy Kerwin and Bob Sumeski. The two leading pitchers were Tim Strange with a record of 5-0 and Dan DeCarlo with a record of 3-2, and with a no-hitter credited to his name. Led by Coach Kenneth Kane, the 1981 Boys ' Varsity Tennis Team topped off its season by winning its second consecutive conference championship. Led by singles titlist Joe Nelligan and doubles titlist John Landry and Jim Grissom, the team pulled out the championship by a nar- row margin. Rick Green and Jeff Nealons at second doubles and Mike Greene at third singles were runners up. Junior Joe Nelligan won his third straight conference title and also qualified for the state tournament when he won three matches and was seeded 18th.
