You are Benedictine students. Your teachers and administrators want you to respond to your God-given talents. It will be our aim to promote acceptable behavior with academic goals. You have heard many times that we want you to be proud of your work and school, we want you to be courteous, we want you to be willing to follow directions, we want you to be responsible for your actions. Through work and play, study and prayer, we want this school to be a place where you can grow. We hope that this school not only adds to your life but helps you to contribute to the life of your family, your church or synagogue, and your community. We hope that you will be eager to learn answers, to find solutions, to do your work. And, we expect you to work in harmony with others as a team. We expect you to value each person. God gives many gifts and talents. It is good to be alive, to have friends, to know truth. Truth and knowledge, love and peace, friendship and happiness - all of these go into being human. They are not imposed on us. They come from within us when we are open and willing. It is difficult to be what one is supposed to be. Sometimes we have a compulsion to be what we are not. It is important to be what we are. Your teachersand I want your presence here and wherever you are to make an important difference. l hope you want that too. Give full measure to what you are about.
