Tift Edges Cadets Benedictine's hopes for an area title fell short as the Cadets dropped a 7-6 decision to Tift County. The cadets proved to be worthycompetition forthenumber2 ranked Blue Devils. This game as others was a defensive battle. The only score ofthe first half was a 20 yard pass by Tift. However, the so called comeback Cadets took the kick off of the second half and drove 75 yards for a touchdown, with the fatal blow coming on a 44 yard pass from Lutz to Watson. The missed extra point proved to be the margin of victory for Tift County. As a whole the Cadetsfinished with pride and reached their goal of Region Champs. Outstanding play was turned in by Peter Brennan, Brian Watson, Chris Knight, and Mark Stewart. The M.V.P. was Leo Sheehan. 104

l Seven Cadets Named To All City Team Seven Cadets, six seniors and one junior, were named to the 1983 all City football team. John Mell was named Lineman of the Year by the Savannah News Press, and also by the Savannah Quarterback Club. Richard Lutz was named Back of the Year by the Club. Others named to the all City team were Michael Loncon, Jim Cain, Mark Stewart, Scott Ellis, and junior Brian Watson.
