THE SENIORS LOOK BACK Four years forty e1ghtf1rst Fr1days twelve compet1t1ve dr1lls and approx 1mately twenty f1ve textbooks ago, agroup ofmore cur1ous than conf1dent fresh men entered the doors of Bened1ct1ne w1thagoal to ach1eve that 1deal of Chr1s t1an gentlemanl1ness wh1ch 1S the reason for Bened1ct1ne's ex1stence Everythmg at Bened1ct1ne has played a part 1n br1ng1ng us to th1s goal Through our l1fe as cadets 1n the Corps we have learned and developed leader h1p bearmg devot1on to duty spect for author1ty, and that feel1ng of e longmg to Bened1ct1ne wh1ch naturally follows All th1s of course 15 due to the capable 1eadersh1p wh1ch has been placed before us 1n the person of our 1n dustr1ous Commandant to whom we w1sh to express our s1ncerest thanks for h1S cont1nuous help The many hours spent 1n the classroom and labor1ng over ass1gnments at home must be ment1oned also for Bened1ct1ne IS f1rst and foremost an 1nst1 tutmon of learmng The benef1ts of these well spent hours 1n acqu1r1ng a mature outlook and understand1ng and var1ous pract1cal sk1lls wxll perhaps not be real 1zed for afew years but nevertheless there w1ll come a t1me ln each of our l1ves when we w1ll say to ourselves 'Thank God I had a teacher who made me make good use of my t1me and ab1l1t1es ' Needless to say we all feel that there IS no f1ner group of men 1n anyway than our modest faculty who have made our l1fe at Bened1ct1ne r1ch and worthwh1le Though we can th1nk of no words wh1ch say 'thank you w1th just the r1ght measure of feel1ng we can at least say that our grat1tude 15 deep and eternal Our athlet1c teams wh1ch have gone out on the gr1d1ron d1amond or hard wood floor to do or d1e for the green and wh1te w1ll always be remembered for the1r ab1l1ty courage and sportsmansh1p thanks to the efforts of our f1ne coaches and athlet1c d1rector Another 1mportant part of the p1cture has been our soc1al l1fe here at Ben ed1ct1ne whether lt cons1sts of a formal ball an lnformal B teen or a chat over a Coke atthe drugstore Our soc1al11fe has provmded recreat1on bu1lt self conf1dence and broadened our 1nterests and poxnt of v1ew thus contr1but1ng 1n no small way to the mak1ng of a complete Chr1st1an gentleman We the sen1ors have had a full and wonderful four years We hope that our des1re to be Chr1st1an gentlemenhas been fulf11led we have done our best Even though we have spent our last school day at Bened1ct1ne, our graduatxon 1S not an end lt 1S rather, a chmax Our d1p1oma IS our adm1ss1on to a Joyful and l1fe long fellowsh1p 1n the ranks of and as a1umn1 of Bened1ct1ne 'Suff1c1t 1n hoc re hod1 Umberto Balduccl 21 , -. . . , .. , - S' 1 Q 1 ' ,re .
