Upon graduating from Benedictine in 1935, the Bengals, varsity football center spent his first two college years at Saint Procopius college, his year of novitiate at Saint Vincent archabbey, and his final two col- lege years at Saint Benedict's college. He earned his master of arts degree at the University of Notre Dame. As Father Jerome, O.S.B., he was ordained priest Dec. 18, 1943. Through 19 consecutive scholastic years on the Benedictine faculty, Father Jerome has taught general science, sociology, moral guidance, business law, economics and German. He was school librarian, 1940-43, and assistant band moderator, 1943-44. Since 1948 hels been emceeing Bengal football rallies. Excluding the 1955-56 academic term when he served as assistant principal and Dads' club moderator, Father Jerome has been Benedic- tine's chaplain since 1951. Mostly as chaplain has he endeared himself to students through kindness and zeal for souls. Because he is teacher, priest and shepherd, we are proud to dedicate the 1959 Benedictine to the Reverend Father Jerome M. Koval, O.S.B. 1
