NCE again we enter the portals of Benedictine, this time bearing the title, Juniors October and we were upperclassmen. First class meeting was devoted to the election of ofiicers-class politicians loosen up-soap-box Demosthenes grow vol- uble. The campaign is hotly contested. The best poli- ticians win, Vall, Bacho, Stefanelc, and Yurcho take up positions respectively. The football team must have its scrimmage, material is in demand. We present to the Varsity our grunt and groan men: Yurcho, Knapilc, Vall, Fronek, and Kruchan. Basketball displaces football. Franko and Zahurancilc are the mainstays on the Varsity. Vall, Galo, and Dragos aid the Reserves in defense of their record. Mid-term exams-our slogan: United we pass, divi- ded we fail. 44011, M011 The Sophomores . ,,g e 11 . g ' .L A 'FQ J za- 5 Q EVENGE is sweet! And how,'l as most sophomores will tell. It certainly is, for it was just one year ago that we were so royally entertained by the Class of '42, This year it was our turn to bring the paddles, lipstick, nail polish and electric shoclcers. Attention, pleasel If it is the ideal class that you are seelcing, scholarly, energetic and loyal, seelc no further. After having been called to order by Fr. Jerome, our moderator and having elected the following ofhcers: John Vvagaslcy, president, Edward Walsh, vice-president, Robert Gruss, secretary-treasurer, we changed tradition by holding an initiation week instead of an initiation day. In this way we intended to accomplish more things? Father Rector, however, soon declared our ruling unconstitutional. Enough is enough, to quote his very words. As the Sophomore Class, we were well represented on the honor roll as well as on the extra- curricular activities. On the honor roll it was Edward Tomko and Edward Gotchg in football it was John Wagasky, Bob Gruss, Eugene Vavro and james Estergallg in basketball it was George Kepicg in baseball it was again Bob Gruss and jim Estergall. Though we're still undetclassmen, there is no fear that the schoolls extra-curricular activities will lack material in future years. For already we have shown capability and leadership. The Whirlo, The Benedictine, The Orchestra, The Glee Club, Dramatics, Tax Stamp Drive, all particularly show our potentialities. As the year is closing we are preparing to become uppereclassmen. We pledge, by that class spirit, which has been prevelant during our freshman and sophomore years, to uphold the traditions and standards of Benedictine established by the preceeding upper-classes, when we ourselves attain that desired rank.
