“n Prollhec It has been rumored around Washington, D C , that the class of '53 Benedict High school has been very prosperous And so, as an interna revenue collector, I have been sent to find out a little about each one's lives It has been twenty years since I have seen my former class mates, so I am very anxious to get started The first stop was made at a farm west afBenedict where I found Cleetis feeding the cattle Cleetis told me that she and her husband were doing very well in the cattle business During my visit with Cleetis, she happened to mention that Leila Emken was living at Peru, Nebraska when I arrived at Peru, I inquired where I could find Leila and was told that Leila was thetown's police woman When I finally found Leila, she told me that she had graduated from Peru State Teachers College and while there found things in a rather lawless state, so she decided she would see to it that Peru had law and order I then traveled to New Orleans to see Allen Farley, who is a s Allen told me he enjoyed being a sailor very much He said it was ailor such a free and independent life Up to date he had a girl in every port On my way up from New Orleans, I had some car trouble, and so I to the nearest farm house to get some help and whom should I find but Helden I can't say that Lowel1's farm looked very prosperous, and said something toLowell about hzhe said he had become just like his walked Lowell when I neigh bors You know ke said, UI never did especially care for work bzck in high school,U so that's why I came here where everybody else was lazy, too when my car was fixed and ready to go, I went to the nearest town where I heard there was going tobea big show that evening I was very surprised to see Mary Heser as Mistress of Ceremonies Naturally, I had to have a word with Mary afterwards Mary told me that after graduating from high school, she had missed giving speeches in front of the assembly and in Modern Problems, so she decided to join this show where she could give a speech whenever she got in the mood for one While talkin: to Mary, we decided to go somewhere to out Since the Lazy Rancho was right acro s the street we decided to eat there When we than our one time class mate, Nancy Kops After eating, we got up to leave and who should walk by but Professor Moore, a'aswe know her, Norma I asked her what had been keeping her busy for the last twenty years and she told nethat she had first graduated from Columbia University and acquired her master's degree After that she had accepted a job teaching school in India She told me she had already got ten rid of the caste system At the present she was home for a vacation The next morning I st1rted for the west coast Uhile glancing through the Los Angeles Times, I stumbled upon th name of Fugene Reetz at the head of a Love Lorn Column when I got to his office I was quite urprised I asked him how he happened torn writing this Love Lorn Column and he told me that he had enjoyed Mary Lane's Column so much he had decided to help people out the way Mary Lane seemed to Fugene told me that he had just seen Gordon Taylor a few days ago Eugene said that he is now a big contractor and at present is building the biggest and best bridge ever built The bridge spans the Amazon River i1Braz1l when I wenr t:Gordon's office, his head man told me that Gordon had become very wealthy I tlfenwent to Denver, Colorado, while shopping one day I saw tk! former Ellen Walkup I asked her what kept her busy? She tol me that sne was now employed in her husband's dentist office I decided to go to hear the revival of the old musical comedy S03 Q Pacific with tte Denver Symphony orchestra accompanying when the orchestra was rendy to play, the conductor came out and who should be the conductor, but Shirley walkup After the orchestra had played the introduction the play began The leading lady soon made her entranc first I didn't recognize her I looked down at my it was Nadine Watson I learned from Nadine that Carolyn Ziemke was now I went to the Metropolitan Opera House where she was The person beside me said that Miss Ziemke had just of Europe e on the stage and at program and saw that a famous opera star at the time singing returned from a tour Besides the Joy of seeing all my old classmates, I know that all of them had found happiness and uccess in life Shirley Walkpp rs O O 1 U ' s . sat down, a rather tall waitress came to wait on us.
