CLASS HISTORY We took our first step as Green Freshman in the fall of 'M7' touring a building which we called 'Benedict High Clinic' which had four floors hiss Wanda wantz was our sponsor and Cliff Foster was our group director or president Ve got along very well, we hadn't gone very far when we came upon a door with a sign reading 'Please Enter W Ve entered and found ourselves in for Freshman Initation, d1dn't think we would ever live through it However we survived in quite the best of health We journeved along down the halls and came finally to an elevator with a sign by the side which read 'Sophomore 2nd floor U As we got into the elevator roll was called by the class secretary, Twyla Van Nostrand The following answered Jim Larkin, Cliff Foster, Dean Dovenbarger, Duane Emken, Evelyn Doak, Elaine Hinze Leola Pohl, Letha Pohl, Dale Pohl, Dale Behnken, Adeline Sackschewsk Twyla Van Nostrand, John Heser, Joyce Leach, Alice Miller As we reacred 2nd floor, Stromsburg High School came along and adopted Joyce Leach So we began our tour of 2nd floor with fourteen growing children This was a very interesting as well as an educational tour, with Mr Robert Severna as our sponsor and Dale Pohl was our group director He did a very good job of leading us and we accomplished a great deal on this floor In several rooms along the way we stopped for what we called a WClass Party ' Our tour on this floor ended, came again to the elevator but the sian beside it read differently, this time it said 'Jun1or, 3rd floor 3 Roll was called again by the class secretary, Cliff Foster, and this time we adopted Virginia Cotner from Waco High School As we got off the elevator, we were introduced to Mrs Alta Bland who we were told was to be our sponsor for this floor, and Virginia Cotner was to be the group director During the tour of the Junior floor we came upon many interesting activites one of them was a play, Mrs Astor's Horseu, in which we all took part except John Heser who was our stage manager A Junior Senior banquet which we put on for the nineteen Seniors, was enjoyed by the Juniors, Seniors, and Faculty We continued on our tour and came again to the elevator, which was to take us to the Uth and last floor Here our tour began and continued at great speed We found we had lost two people, Dale and Letha Pohl, who were adopted by Th yer High School Ie adopted one ourselves, lilma Tonniges from Vork High School A great deal seemed to be accomplished with Mr Davenport as our sponsor and Jim Larkin as group director Some things which were included were a trip to Haeting, Nebraska, to get our Senior pictures taken a trip to Peru, Nebraska, to tour the college campus, a Junior Senior Banouet, which was very nice, given by the Juniors, a Senior play, WThe Red Sp1der,' presented by the following Jim Larkin, Cliff Foster, Dean Dovenbaryer, Dale Behnken, Duane Emken, Evelyn Doak, Twyls Van Nostrand, Virginia Cotner, Adeline Sackscheusky and Alice Miller with Elaine Hinze, Leols Pohl and Wilma Tonniges as ushers, John Heser as Stage Manager, Miss Gilmore, director and Mr Davenport,sponsor One of the longemzjaunts we ever took was to Kansas City, Missouri, where we ment for our Skip Day the 16th and l7th of May We were all very proud to think that our go, because we were the Under the leadership of bth floor and are ready us, and go out into the School Board of Directors would permit us to first class of Benedict High School to do this Mr Davenport we all survived the tour of the to leave the building and good times behind world ahead of us Alice Miller Dean Dovenbarger . - by , v . 5 A . . ,I . , 'I W8 I U u 2 ' I . , 3 i ys U A K - 1' - O ' . . 2 0 - w - . - , , , we C . . - -s I ll - I 2 - ' f 0 ' 3 I O , . - . - 3 0 1 , F , , .
