“VALEDICTORY Superintendent Burkhard, hr Shively, Fellow Graduates, and Friends, Tonight we, the senior class of 1950, are to be graduated This event marks the completion of twelve years of study and pleasure Twelve years which have held memorable experiences for all of us Over this period of years we have been the recipients of an infinite number of opportunities and advantages It is only right that tonight we should express our gratitude and appreciation to those who have made our gradu ation possible For twelve years we have been receiving the instruction of the finest teachers available Ven and women who have devoted their lives to giving knowledge and wisdom to the youth of today They have be stowed upon us the desire to lead happy, useful lives in a peaceful world For their inspiration and guidance we say THANK YOU SO MUPH! The structure which we have learned to know and love as Benedict High School is more than a mere building It is a monument to learn ing, a temple of education In its halls and classrooms we have dis covered the value of sportsmansh'p, co operation, and good citizenship Here we have built the foundations of our lives upon strong ideals For these opportunities we say THANK YOU SO MUCH! A school without the interest of the community would be an institution devoid of enthusiasm and inspiration We, in Benedict, are extremely fortunate The relationships that exist here between the home and the school, the school and the church are indeed rare The most influential factors bearing upon a young persons life out side of the home are to be found in the church and school Close co operation between them is beneficial to all For this great Our greatest debt in appreciation should be paid to our parents They have given us the courage to build success out of failure, the courage to face difficulties and conquer them, the courage to make a success of our school life Words are not rich enough to express the marvelous things they have given us so willingly We can only say THANK YOU SO AUCHI Now as we leave Benedict High School for our commencement in life these rare gifts we have received will be treasured dearly In every thing we do, in every task we attempt, the influence of these years will be evident In the future our lives will be lived sepa rately Yet we are all bound together by the common bond of friend ship, and memories of experiences shared Notning can destroy this It is ours forever Our school has become a living part of us which can never be forgotten, as we go forward to larger and greater op portunitles American youth is the heir to the greatest estate in the world The estate of freedom This offers a challenge which must be ac cepted by each one of us In it lies the hope of the world Our accomplishments in preserving this heritage will be shown in the progress we make in living usefully and successfully The profession we choose will not determine the degree of success we shall achieve Rather, it will be determined by the manner in which we apply the ideals and principles with which we come in contact advantage given us...THANK YOU SO MUCH!
