Blond six foot Bjom Syversensnative home is in Aslcer, Norway hut if a stranger were asked to piclc him out of one of his classes here at BSHS, it would he difficult. Bjorn made his home in Bend with Dr. and Mrs. Charles B. Hinds and family for the past school year under the American Field Service lntemational Scholarship plan. He fitted in easily with his American school mates and his Hfamilyf' All who lmew him will miss him when he has gone hack to his Norweagian home. Bjorn, who had never played football b6f0r6 coming to the United States not only made the varsity team hut earned his letter playing for the Lava Bears , He was a welcome addition to the track squad, HS he P8I'tiCiPHtCS in tht SPOIT in his own country. Skiing is also an activity in which this athletic student excells and he spent many weekends at Hoodoo Bowl on the Santiam Pass, slciing with his sister Kela and Hhrothern Pete. Bjorn wishes to thank all those who made it possible for him to stay in Bend this year. JEAN -PIERRE SIMMEN Jean Pierre Simmen will not soon he forgotten hy the people of Bend. Everyone who came in contact with this Swiss hoy was charmed hy his friendly smile, and left amazed at his seeminly houndless enthusiasm. John, as he is lmown to his American friends, comes from Solothurn, Switzerland, and lived this past school year with the Dr. Bradford Pease family in Bend. He enrolled as a senior at BSHS, along with his brother Wilson. While attending school here John spent many husy hours working on school activities. His main interest was dramatics, and he tool: part in the student hody play Green Valley besides many one act presentations Everyone who worked with John, or was one of his many friends, will miss his exuberance and vital personality when he is gone. . .
