BEVERLY HEBERT, Editor in Chief leur, sri sore Floyd Ogle-lree, Jr., who was born in Dolores, Colorado, on Ocrober l, I929, Came fo Bend in Seplember of I94I. He passed away in Porrland, Ore., on March 24, I947. Floyd, who would have qradualed wilh lhe class of I948, was aclive in baskerball, and in orher school aclivilies, in spile of illness. Cappella Choir took a longer period getting started this year, but was quite a suc- cess once it began singing for groups. The first time the choir performed was du ' T ring eachers Institute where it was . well received by that gathering. The group next entertained at the Christian Church, performing on the Thanks- ' giving program. , The only other time the choir appeared during the first semester was in the annual f Christmas program. f During the second semester, the group performed at the Easter Assembly which f - was one of the highlights of the year. A peak for several of the members was reached when they made a trip to Dallas , to receive their ratings from state judges. This was for soloist a d bl s n ensem es all ' over the state. The choir also participated in the annual spring music festival given by the music . department. Also, the district contest to determine who would be able to go to the state meet at Albany. The last time the choir performed together was on May 28, 1948, at the Com- mencement exercises.
