The choir's main concerT was a parT oT The annual ChrisTmas program which was pr'esenTed in collaboraTion wiTh The orchesTra and The Junior High Glee Club. The choir also parTicipaTed in The orchesTra concerT, which was given in The laTTer parT oT April. AlThough The choir pracTised only once a week, Mr. WalTz sTaTed ThaT he received more complimenTs on The choir Than on any oTher organizaTion. BeTTy Jo Rogers was soloisT in The soprano secTion and KenneTh Sawyer and Royce Coan shared honors in The bariTone range solos. The choir was very versaTile. Members could sing early church music, such as was wriTTen in The elevenTh cenTuryg Negro spiriTuals: TasT, rollicking Tolk Tunes: or The mosT modern oT choral arrangemenTs. For one week, while Mr. WalTz was aTTending The NaTional Music EducaTion ConTerence held in Los Angeles The TirsT week oT April, Mr. Orville SchulTz Took over The conducTing duTies. He sTaTed: IT was Tun, buT l'm aTraid ThaT Tor a couple oT days I Took a beaTing. Mr. WalTz reTurned Trom The conTerence inspired in his work and wiTh many new ideas Tor beTTermenT oT Bend High's music program.
