w look to math and bmmesf departments Comptometer pupils do an speed drill to increase their speed and accuracy adding four-digit numbers. New and better equipment is the key- note of the enlarged business depart- ment, headed by Mrs. Jessie Kirk. One of the new machines, the ediphone, helps shorthand pupils increase their dictation speed. Courses offered in the business department included: business law, mathematics, business English, re- tailing and selling. . Amplitude and synthetic substitu- tionv are just two examples of new vo- cabulary words used in the modern mathematics. This new concept of old ideas has brought a change in the mathematics department at Ben Davis High School. The many courses in the new field of math help pupils prepare for their futures in the space age. Miss Nina Martin directs the mathematics department. Typing IV pupils take a ten minute timed writing test to check their speed and accuracy. 9 class. Mr. Marvin Meranda puts an example of a sign curve on the board for his trigonometry
