ents bzgblzghf fmt yew in new school The Ciant 500 Bicycle Race, Junior- Senior Prom, Homecoming, Old-Faslr ioned Day, and Teacher Appreciation Day were only a few of the cvcnts that made the year special for Ben Davis pupils. Traditional events such as Homecoming, and the Prom were inuch-anticipated dates on the calendars of Ben Davisites. New events were initiated by such groups as the Student Council and Sideliners. The Giant 500 Bicycle Race took place near the end of school. All were eligible to enter the race, and there were several different events. Dances such as the Quill 81 Scroll sponsored Harvest Ball, the Stu- dent Council sponsored Computer Dance, and the Sunshine Dance broke the regu- lar routine of the weekends through the year. Convocations added variety to the school days. Among those performing for the student body were the Florida College Choir, the Ben Davis choral groups, and the Ben Davis Band. Mr. Larry Highbaugh waves the flag as john Peterson crosses the finish line to win the boys' speed race in the Giant 500 Bicycle Race. 'Q Athletic director, Mr. Marion Fine, presents Noble York with the award presented by the Booster Club to the out- standing freshman athlete. Football coach, Mr. Bill McClain, gives a player instructions before send- ing him into a game.
