The physical education department also of- fers health and safety. Physical education pro- vides the student with a certain amount of vigor- ous activity each day. Activities include a daily program of calisthenics and participation in seasonal sports. Health and safety is designed to provide a pupil with a general knowledge of first aid and personal health rules. Both of these courses are required by state law and must be completed for graduation. The BDHS guidance department consists of specially-trained personnel. The guidance coun- selors help a pupil in choosing courses for his academic career in high school.
