ur mgildltd foricm All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy is a proven statement. Being Salutatorian and second highest in her class of 366 seniors, may seem to indicate that NormaJo Kolbe comes under that heading. But during her four years at Ben Davis, she has managed to ac- quire the nearly perfect combination of work and play. On the work side of the picture, NormaJo included courses in English, history, science, math, and commerce in all of which she excelled highly. As a reward for excellence in math, she was selected to be a member of the honorary math club, Mu Alpha Theta. Because of her scholastic achievement, extra-curricular activities, leadership, and character, she was selected to join the National Honor Society. In her leisure NormaJo participated in the Mask and Gavel Club, Thespians, Marching Band, Orchestra, Drummerettes, S,P,Q,R,, J .C.L,, Sunshine Society, National Forensics League, Booster Club, Bowling Club, and Trialge. She was also a member of the debate team. On Honor Day NormaJo was again rewarded for all her effort with the American Legion Award. Her greatest honor, however, was receiving a 32400, full-tuition, scholarship to Butler University.

'91 K The highest honor that a Senior student can win at Ben Davis is to graduate as Valedic- torlan. In a class of 420 students, the competition is keen, and to come out as the very best merits everyone's praise. Mary Mahan, our 1960 Valedictorian, quietly went about the business of being the top academic scholar at Ben Davis High Schoo1.To her, just being a good student was not enough. She had to be the best. However, she found time to do more than just study. Her extra- curricular activities included belonging to the Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta, J ,C.L,, Chorus, and the Booster Club. On Honor Day, her study and concentration paid off when she walked off with the I.U. Valedictorian Scholarship and the Alumni Scholarship. Mary Mahan, we students and teachers of Ben Davis salute you!
