MR. SAM LANG Better school facilities never just happen. They are the result of ambitious dreams, careful planning, and hard work. In Wayne Township with its 15 grade school buildings and four high school buildings, the major task of keeping up with our growing physical plant needs falls to our township trustee, Mr. Sam Lang, and his advisory board. This is Mr. Lang's sixth year in office, and during his term of service, six new grade schools or additions, a cafeteria, an industrial arts building, and a thorough remodeling of the Senior Building has been accomplished. His pledge remains the sameg and that is, to provide the very best facilities possible in order that our Ben Davis High School can continue to grow toward our goal of being the finest school in the state.

The Board meets once a month for us. Meg Aegoej Zelaincf fAC7 Jcene , Ben Davis High School continues to grow, and this year we had well over two thousand pupils. This makes more and more secretarial work for our full time School Secretary, Mrs. Alice Harker. Managing the PBX switchboard girls, getting out the daily announcements, and handling a mountain of correspondence fills Mrs. Harker's work day. In fact, because of her terrific work load, the school provided her with a full time assistant--pretty, perky Mrs. Shirley Hargls. Between the two of them, they do an admirable job in smoothly handling the heavy detail work connected with running big Ben Davis High. Mrs. Alice Harker, our School Secretary, answers one of her many phone calls. Mrs. Shirley Hargis, assistant to Mrs. Harker, is shown at the right.
