. . . t0lfU6LI 9I 86Lf8l LVLOWAJQZ Character, service, scholarship, and leader- ship are the four qualities that all members of the National Honor Society of B,D.H,S, must excel in before they are eligible for membership in the organization. Coming together on the second Monday of each month are 50 active and 10 probationary members who are in the upper 1592, of their class. The club was established four years ago for the purpose of encouraging and giving recognition to high scholastic achievement. Each year a one hundred dollar scholarship is given to anoutstand- ing senior. Various activities during the year such as a banquet, an Honor Hop, and the annual picnic are some of the projects the society participates in. Sponsoring the group is Miss Olive Carruthers, assisted by Mrs. Helen Poince and Mr. Robert Seaman. Officiating over the group are: Dale Henderson, president, Rhoda McDaniel,vice-pres- identg Jo Ann Wolfe, secretary, and Larry Martin, treasurer. An initiation takes place in the fall of the year when deserving sophomores are accepted into the organization. They are then allowed to stay if they continue their high standards throughout their high school careers. The Honor Society does much to instill into the minds of all members of the group the need, in this rapidly changing world of ours, for well- trained and educated leaders of tomorrow.
