If you necd a ride home you may take one of the 21 school busses which can he found each day at 2:30 p.m. waiting' in a convoy in front of Ben Davis, lf you miss the hus at 2:30, don't panic! Nearly all of the huses come hack for a second load, sincc almost 70 per cent of the student body is transported hack and forth by the school buses. All The Time I students this year. Although Ben Davis is the largest township high school in the country, she still must grow larger as her population in- creases, Ben Davis Sports New Industrial Classes The new Industrial Arts building has many new pieces of equipment to aid in teachinp: Ben Davis students vocational skills, Included in the new equipment is a heat-treat furnace in which the workers may harden met- al. Index ..........,ii 1-7 8-25 26-59 61-'77 78-125 126-140 141-144 During School A part of Trustee Samuel Lang s extensive building and maintainance program in the Wayne Township Schools has been the 2?5100,0,00 remodel- ing project in the Junior Building. Because so much had to be done, the last class had to wait until October lst to move into their room. All of the inconvenience was soon forgotten in the pleasure of the improved fa- cilities. Mmm! It Looks Goocl! Isn't it beautiful! This and other similar remarks were made when the Ben Davisites first saw the new cafeteria. Now, eating at the attrac- tive formica-topped tables in the sunny room has become a natural daily habit. Even though they have become accustomed to it, the stu- dents still appreciate the convenience and the beauty of the new cafeteria. Ofttimes, at night the cafeteria tables and chairs are pushed to the sides, leaving- the center of the floor clear. Accordion doors are closed to cover the steam tables and kitchen facilities, The lights are made a romantic blucg various decorations are erected. The cafeteria has lie- come a ballroom.

5 P nr' ,- Marching Band Places 7th Out of lO2 Waiting: at attention at the State Fair for the sound of the starting gun are: llcff fo righfj majorettes, Marjorie Pettitt, Anita Wills, Jackie White, Judy Morehead, Betty Ray, Dehra Brown, Joyce Harris, and Bonnie Garbes. These xrirls and the rest ofthe Ben Davis Giant Marching Band had three minutes to perform their catchy routine in front of the judges at the annual Indiana State Fair Marching' Band Contest. With flashing instruments and swift high-stepping' feet, the Ben Davis hand marched past the judges and a efrandstand packed with spectators. Evidently they left a favorable impression, for they came home with seventh place honors out of 102 participating hands. Eating Their Cwn Cooking The 21 hard-working cafeteria wo- men of Ben Davis must eat a hurried lunch hefore the pupils hegzin to pour into the building at 10:35 a, m. This year the women have many new facilities to aid them. Some of the new equipment includes three big 4 refrigerators, two walk-in freezers, steam cookers, a garbage disposal, and automatic dishwasher, and a new potato peeler to peel the 12,350 pounds fsix tonsl of potatoes consumed an- nually at Ben Davis. Two invitational trips to Chicago this summer await the hand after a victorious trip to the State Lions Convention at French Lick in June where they placed first, Eligibility for the National Lions competition was among the honors reaped. Numerous practice sessions this summer will prepare the hand and auxiliary groups with a new routine for the many activities coming early in the school year. A new Powermatic Planer is used hy a student in one of our modern shop classes,
