Homemalcers and Hanclymer lfnture llomemakers learn the correct tech- niques ot' caring for a home and family in Ben Davis' Ilome. Economics Department. In llome Plc. I and III the girls are taught not only to cook and preserve food, but also to plan meals and do the weekly shopping. They learn what vitamins the body needs and the foods that supply them. ln Home Ec. II and IV they learn to make clothing, to mend, to match colors, and to plan outfits. Marriage and family living is the subject taught in llome lic. V. In this course, the girls learn some of the common problems that arise in any family and how to cope. with them. In Ilome lic. VI the first six weeks are de- yoted to teaching the students Home Nursing. When the training is completed successfully, the girls are t'ertit'ied Red Cross llome Nurses. The next twelve weeks ot' Home Ee. VI are spent learning all phases ot' child care from the pre- natal period through the adolescent age.
