And Clean Living Besides teaching readin', writin', and 'rithme- tic, Ben Davis Teachers and administrators also teach the pupils a clean, healthy way of life. Required of all B. D. students are two semes- ters of gymnastics. Both the boys' and the girls' gym classes indulge in daily calesthenics. Also, they are taught the basic fundamentals of sever- al sports. Whenever the weather permits the gym classes are held out-of-doors. To encourage the students to keep their lock- ers and the rest of the premises clean the Stu- dent Council promotes an annual Spring Clean Up Campaign. As the weather turns warmer the Ben Davis students are encouraged to participate more in outdoor activities such as golf, tennis, swim- ming and picnics. Through the preceding activities the B.D. faculty hopes to teach the students physical fit- ness as well as mental fitness. Becky Brown, Fred Moore, Jane Schuh, and Jerry Kendall enjoy themselves on a spring- picnic, a healthy activity. The boy's gym classes do many exercises, Among them are set-ups. 15
